Welder (1st shift)

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Full-time

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Batavia, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team. 

Position Summary:
This role is responsible for performing high-quality welding on mild carbon and structural steel using MIG (GMAW) and flux-cored (FCAW) methods. The position requires the ability to work in multiple welding positions, interpret blueprints, and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards. A weld test is required to demonstrate technical ability and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding using GMAW (MIG) and FCAW processes on carbon and structural steel

  • Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions, producing fillet and butt joints

  • Read and interpret blueprints, measurements, and work instructions to complete projects accurately

  • Use welding equipment and hand tools such as grinders, cut-off wheels, and magnetic drills

  • Conduct routine equipment checks to ensure proper operation

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment

  • Assist with tasks in other departments as needed

  • Handle and move materials safely, including lifting up to 50 lbs

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of hands-on welding experience using MIG or FCAW methods

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure (assessment required)

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication skills and reliable attendance

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Completion of a welding trade school program

Weld Test Requirements:

  • Completion of a written welding knowledge test

  • Hands-on weld test to evaluate skill level

5-Gallon Weld Test Tank Criteria:

  • Constructed from 10-gauge steel with a ¼” top sheet

  • MIG welding using .035 hard wire

  • Welds must be fully sealed, consistent, and visually acceptable

  • Tank will be pressure tested at 3 PSI using soap and water

  • Maximum of 5 leaks allowed to pass

  • Test must be completed within 1 hour
