Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Industrial Refrigeration Welder to support the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems. This role involves working with pressurized piping systems, including ammonia and CO₂-based refrigeration, requiring exceptional safety standards, technical proficiency, and precision welding skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld refrigeration piping systems including carbon steel and stainless steel using GTAW (TIG), SMAW (stick), and MIG processes.

  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and work orders.

  • Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and piping infrastructure.

  • Conduct x-ray quality welds for high-pressure ammonia refrigeration systems.

  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing on welds and piping.

  • Work closely with engineers, pipefitters, and refrigeration technicians on layout and design modifications.

  • Ensure compliance with ASME codes, IIAR standards, and OSHA safety regulations.

  • Maintain tools, welding machines, and safety equipment in excellent condition.

  • Maintain detailed records of welding procedures, inspections, and safety checks.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as an industrial welder, preferably in refrigeration or HVAC piping systems.

  • Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) and SMAW welding, particularly on high-pressure piping.

  • Solid knowledge of IIAR standards and best practices for ammonia refrigeration systems.

  • Experience with orbital welding (optional but preferred).

  • Familiarity with pressure vessels, refrigeration cycles, and heat exchange systems.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on scaffolding, and outdoors in varied conditions.

Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of a welding apprenticeship or vocational welding program.

  • Certified Welder (CW) credential from AWS (American Welding Society) preferred.

  • IIAR certification or RETA training (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) is a plus.

  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification preferred.
