Welder/Fabricator

WELDER

This position is in the shop and requires general mechanical knowledge with previous experience in wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding. This position is responsible for performing all welding activities. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Fabrication of equipment and parts.
2. Welding, hard surfacing, and repairing equipment and parts.
3. Assist mechanics in other tasks for repair.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. General mechanical knowledge.
2. Previous welding experience (wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding).

REQUIRED ABILITIES

1. The ability to follow and read patterns.
2. Must be able to work with people and alone at times.
3. Must keep work area clean.
4. Must be able to use a drill press, welders, torch, and plasma cutter.
5. Must have knowledge of steel.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE

1. Exposure to loud noises.
2. Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and gases.
3. Exposure to ceramic, fiberglass, and/or Rockwool insulations.
4. May be exposed to outside work in all weather conditions.
5. Exposure to volatile organic compounds (ie. alcohol, paint spray, naptha, etc.).
6. May be exposed to confined spaces.
7. Work indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Must have efficient hand-eye coordination.
2. Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds.
3. Must be able to work long periods of time including nights and weekends.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1. Backup mechanics in additional shop work outside of welding.
