Position Overview
Welders are responsible for the fabrication and assembly of metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools. They produce metal products according to customer or employer specifications. They use multiple welding machines to repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes. Welders read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and prints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects.
In addition to welding, this role includes fabrication duties such as material layout, cutting, forming, and fitting components prior to final assembly. Welders set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment. They understand and implement personal and company safety measures by wearing specialized clothing, goggles, helmets, and gloves. Communication skills are essential to work with team members and converse with customers and clients.

Work Environment
This job operates in manufacturing plant setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can at times be loud; the use of hearing protection is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; use hand tools; twist and pull with hands/wrist; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as production demand.
