SUMMARY:

Must be able to cut and join various types of metals with precision from technical drawings, visual, and verbal instruction. Fabricate components by analyzing requirements, welding stainless steel parts in a food manufacturing facility. Performing basic PM and mechanical tasks used in the production facility.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:        

  •  Develops welding projects by analyzing work orders, prints, and completed assembly; calculating requirements; studying metals; determining appropriate welding techniques.
  • Collects equipment and materials by studying specifications and component requirements; work with MRO buyer to order supplies and gases.
  • Fabricates components by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces; setting-up and measuring assemblies; selecting appropriate method.
  • Verifies welding results by inspecting and testing welds.
  • Documents actions by completing records in eMaint CMMS.
  • Maintains safe work environment by following procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes manufacturing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Perform PM tasks that are provided through eMaint CMMS.
  • Must follow all GMPs, SOPs and maintain a current understanding of the regulation and requirements of the industry applicable government agencies.   
  • Train new hires.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years welding experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sanitary welding experience in food industry preferred. 
  • Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools and trade-type tools; good motor coordination necessary.
  • Proven record of ability to handle equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to make sensitive adjustments in equipment.
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work with others and without direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  •  Ability to perform the following:  standing, climbing, pulling, and/or pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and stooping.
  • Ability to perform repetitious work and lift 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must wear required personal protection equipment associated with the manufacturing environment. 
  • Able to work in confined spaces
  • Able to climb up and down ladders
  • Must be able to work at various heights
