CORE HOURS: MONDAY - THURSDAY 3:30pm - 2:00am
JOB SUMMARY
The Spot Welder is responsible for using resistant spot-welding equipment to weld metal components and fabricated metal products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
- Select and install filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses.
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Examine work pieces for defects ensure conformance with specifications.
- Properly prepare all material surfaces to be welded and smooth out bulges or bends in metal work pieces.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping of material.
REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of safety/quality practices and expectations
- Knowledge of respect for product and ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to visually inspect parts prior to assembly and units at work stations.
- Skill in problem solving at an intermediate level.
- Ability to successfully pass classroom and production line training and certification testing.
- Actively participating in Bergstrom’s continuous improvement environment
PREFERRED:
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience Resistance Spot in welding in a manufacturing environment
- Experience utilizing work instructions to weld/assemble production units.
- Knowledge of LEAN principles and knowledge of 5S
The budgeted range for this role is $17 USD - $19 USD per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the desired level of experience for the position.
