Job Summary for Welder
Ulrich Horse Barns is looking for a production welder. The Welder is responsible for reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, and welding materials used in the assembly of our custom-made sheds, garages, barns, and playhouses. The ideal candidate will have steady hands and great attention to detail matched with a positive attitude and a productive work ethic.
Job Duties for Welder
- Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Operating angle grinders to prepare parts that must be welded.
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover any flaws and ensure product quality.
- Maintain equipment to ensure safety.
- Follow all safety precautions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Welder
- Proven experience as a welder
- Professional Welding Certification is a plus
- Manufacturing or warehouse production knowledge is a plus
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of metallurgy
- Experience using electrical or manual tools (squares, calipers, saws, etc.)
- Knowledge of safety standards and use of proper safety gear (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
- Must be able to read blueprints and drawings
- Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG and MIG, as well as manual and mechanical
- Basic math knowledge including ability to add and subtract in all units of standard US measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb a ladder, stoop, bend and kneel for extended periods of time
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to be proactive and operate with a sense of urgency.
- Must work in a team environment with a positive attitude
Work Environment for Welder
- Majority of work will take place indoors, but some may be required outdoors with exposure to various weather elements.
- Must be available for daily overtime and Saturday work when needed
- Must have reliable transportation
