Job Summary for Welder

Ulrich Horse Barns is looking for a production welder. The Welder is responsible for reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, and welding materials used in the assembly of our custom-made sheds, garages, barns, and playhouses. The ideal candidate will have steady hands and great attention to detail matched with a positive attitude and a productive work ethic.

Job Duties for Welder

• Reading blueprints and drawings and taking measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Operating angle grinders to prepare parts that must be welded.
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover any flaws and ensure product quality.
• Maintain equipment to ensure safety.
• Follow all safety precautions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Welder

• Proven experience as a welder
• Professional Welding Certification is a plus
• Manufacturing or warehouse production knowledge is a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of metallurgy
• Experience using electrical or manual tools (squares, calipers, saws, etc.)
• Knowledge of safety standards and use of proper safety gear (face-shield, gloves, etc.)
• Must be able to read blueprints and drawings
• Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG and MIG, as well as manual and mechanical
• Basic math knowledge including ability to add and subtract in all units of standard US measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to climb a ladder, stoop, bend and kneel for extended periods of time
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail with ability to be proactive and operate with a sense of urgency.
• Must work in a team environment with a positive attitude

Work Environment for Welder

• Majority of work will take place indoors, but some may be required outdoors with exposure to various weather elements.
• Must be available for daily overtime and Saturday work when needed
• Must have reliable transportation
