: A welder is a skilled tradesperson responsible for the fabrication, welding, maintenance and repair of oil and gas equipment, pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, etc. Working from engineering drawings, weld procedure specifications and fabrication schematics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit-up and weld pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, cattle guards, etc.
  • Prepare weld joints to proper dimensions, including grinding, gouging and cleaning to ensure sound weld quality
  • Weld structural and process piping in multiple positions
  • Fit and tack pipe spools, install glanges, elbows, tees, and other fittings per drawings
  • Fabricate and weld structural steel assemblies including frames, skids, platforms, ladders, handrails, brackets and supports
  • Perform fit-up and assembly of structural members using squares, levels, clamps and fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Support hydrostatic testing pneumatic testing and NDE activities as required
  • Perform visual weld inspections and dimensional checks on completed work prior to QC inspection
  • Maintain welder qualification records and perform continuity welds as required to keep qualification current
  • Cleans and maintains work areas, tools and equipment at the end of each shift, maintains a safe, organized shop environment
  • Comply with all safety policies, codes and regulations to protect the safety and health of all employees.
  • Other job duties, as assigned by management

  • Must be able to read measurements and perform basic math for measurements and tolerances
  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend and perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks for extended periods in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be adaptable to changing field conditions and operational demands
  • Must pass a Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol screening, participate in the random testing pool and remain drug & alcohol free throughout employment
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check

Qualifications

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in an indoor manufacturing shop environment. The work environment regularly invoices exposure to welding fumes, arc flash, heat, noise above 85 db, and heavy fabricated materials. The facility operates cranes and powered industrial vehicles. Proper PPE is required at all times in designated areas. Occasional outdoor works may be required for rework.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours, after hours and weekend work as job duties demand.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience operating forklift/crane preferred.
