Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator

Location: Arlington, TN
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Starting at $21.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience
2nd Shift Differential: Additional 10%
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available | Some Saturdays Required

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator to build and assemble structural steel components in a busy fabrication shop. This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, accurate layout and fit-up abilities, and experience working safely with heavy steel and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout details.
  • Fit and assemble beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals.
  • Perform measuring, layout, cutting, fitting, and assembly.
  • Operate ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other shop equipment.
  • Tack and prepare steel assemblies for welding and final production.
  • Use overhead cranes, rigging, and material-handling equipment safely.
  • Verify dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up before welding.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while meeting production schedules.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Experience with structural layout, fit-up, and fabrication processes
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment
  • Ability to work with heavy materials and stand for extended periods
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and teamwork

Requirements

  • 2+ years of structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with structural layout, fit-up, and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of fabrication tools, measuring equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Ability to handle heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
  • Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety, and teamwork.

Preferred Experience

  • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) experience in structural steel fabrication.
  • Ability to produce clean, strong FCAW welds on structural steel.
  • Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
