Job Summary
Welder supports the fabrication and assembly of all products and parts that are within ATS Technical Services Group. This is both in Houston and all offsite locations. This person will be responsible for the adherence of the project management plan which includes assembly, welding, supporting instrument checks, safety, and delivering per schedule.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Support Quality Assurance plan and follow Quality Check Points.
- Provide feedback with schedule, lessons learned, risk, and assembly plans.
- Collaborates with team to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide daily updates per milestones.
- Professionally communicate with fellow coworkers, clients and valued partners.
- Demonstrate ability to weld tubing and provide the required number of welds per day.
- Preferred ability to weld carbon steel.
- Collaborate with generating JSAs. Monitor safety within the team.
- Collaborate and proactively follow 5s in both Houston Shop and outside.
- Support Pre Assembly by drilling, fabricating brackets, and installing on frames.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers and customers verbally and in writing.
- Learn to identify and differentiate between Low Pressure, JIC, MP, and HP components.
- Eventually learn to tie in fittings with Low Pressure, MP, and HP fittings after instruction.
- Assist company with inventory.
- Demonstrate proactiveness to learn how to cone and thread.
- Follow a route plan to install brackets, line clamps, stuff clamps, etc.
- Execute project per predefined schedule.
- Inventory materials, tooling, and components prior to kick-off.
- Able to weld the assigned number of welds per day.
- Understand how to read, generate weld logs/maps, and NOIs.
- Aid with generating tool list and material list for projects.
- Gather tooling per the tooling kick off list.
- Aid with monitoring calibration and maintenance plans for machines.
- Complete the MRB documentation as project is in progress.
- Accurately completes labor tickets, expenses, and submits on due date.
- Use cranes to move components.
- Ability to work on numerous projects at once.
- Assist with QA and QC.
- Support the monitoring and execution of a project.
- Assist with reviewing and managing NDE.
- Pickle and Passivate tubing.
- Follow and complete Final Inspection Document.
- Provide part numbers and material list for welding.
Required Abilities

- Complete a JSA, monitor safety within team, and provide risk to avoid incidents.
- Learn to identify and differentiate between Low Pressure, JIC, MP, and HP components.
- Eventually learn to tie in fittings with Low Pressure, MP, and HP fittings after instruction.
- Assist company with inventory.
- Demonstrate ability to prep tubing to avoid contamination and prepare for either tie in with fittings and or welding.
Education / Experience
- High School / GED preferred
- 5+ years of Subsea or Space Experience
- ability to travel on short notice for extended periods
- self motivated with high level of initiative
- ability to work with minimal supervision
- problem solving skills
- written and verbal communication skills in English
